Headache – but since when and why?
With the development of the Internet, us – programmers – have faced an increasing number of potential problems, which also have affected typography to a greater extent. Not to mention that in the past web designs had fixed performance parameters (width and height expressed in pixels). Back then, coding such a web design and dealing with fonts was much easier, since it was enough to set the sizes of text elements once, without thinking specifically whether the page would display correctly on different screens.
Currently, the number of screens – from smartwatches to ultra-panoramic monitors – is so large that no one can adapt a layout to all of them. For this reason, the use of a single, main modular grid has been set aside because it is currently unable to provide order within an (ultimately) fully responsive design.
In addition, designers no longer have as much control over the layout as they used to have because of the word flexibility, which has become emphasized nowadays. And to ensure such flexibility, the phrase fluid typography is worth checking out.
